Local Spotlight: Colossus Bread – Elevating San Pedro’s Food and Coffee Scene

One of our longtime favorites is Colossus Bread and their new location in the Vivo apartment complex at Harbor and 5th.

This neighborhood bakery and cafe has quickly become a staple for locals, thanks to its incredible sourdough bread, seasonal pastries, and beautifully balanced coffee program. More recently, they’ve added an immaculate wine and beer program and wood-fired sourdough pizzas to their evening lineup—yes, they’re as good as they sound.

I’ve enjoyed the food and coffee from Colossus since they first opened, but I became a superfan during the early days of the pandemic. I made a point to support them regularly, and I’ll never forget the occaisonal personal deliveries from owner Kristin Colazas to my doorstep. That kind of dedication to both craft and community is exactly what sets Colossus apart.

Whether you’re stopping by for a ham and gruyere croissant, a kouign-amann (trust me, just get one), or a perfectly pulled espresso, you’ll find that everything here is made fresh with exceptional attention to detail. Their ingredients are top-notch, their aesthetic is thoughtful, and the vibe is always welcoming.

Colossus has helped raise the bar for food culture in San Pedro, and we’re lucky to have them. If you haven’t been yet, stop in and see what all the buzz is about—you’ll likely see a line of locals that includes everyone from artists to longshoremen, and once you try the pastries, you’ll understand why.
